Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information CFB Scoreboard collects when you use cfbscoreboard.com and its Free, Paid, and Pro tiers (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. It should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions.

1. Information We Collect

What we collect depends on which tier you use:

2. How We Use Your Information

We use what we collect to:

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it to serve you ads.

3. Cookies & Local Storage

We use one session cookie to keep you logged in - it's required for Paid/Pro accounts to work and isn't used for tracking or advertising. We also use your browser's local storage to remember your light/dark theme choice; that setting never leaves your device.

4. Text Message Alerts

If you turn on Text Updates in your Paid or Pro settings, the phone number you provide is used solely to send you the score-update texts you've configured (which teams/games, and how often) - and for nothing else. We send these messages ourselves through a transactional messaging provider - currently Amazon Web Services (SNS), with Twilio available as a backup provider if we ever need to switch delivery providers - and your number isn't shared with any other third party or used for marketing. You can turn Text Updates off, or change the number on file, anytime in your settings. See our Terms for message-frequency and carrier-charge details.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on a small number of outside services to run CFB Scoreboard, each of which only sees the information it needs to do its specific job:

Scores, schedules, channel listings, and sportsbook odds shown on the Service come from third-party sports-data and odds providers - that's public game/market data flowing into the Service, not your personal information flowing out, and it isn't affected by anything in this section.

6. Data Retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information (email, saved settings, phone number) within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep something briefly for security, fraud-prevention, or legal reasons.

7. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We don't sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with the service providers listed in Section 5 (to the extent needed for them to do their job), or when required to comply with the law, protect our legal rights, or protect the safety of our users or the public.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. The Service is served over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, so while we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights & Choices

You can review and update your saved settings anytime from your account. You can turn Text Updates off, or remove your phone number, in Settings. To access, correct, or delete your personal information, or ask us anything about this policy, contact us using the email address in Section 11 below.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service isn't directed at anyone under 18 (see our Terms for the account age requirement), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
